Draft Grade — Patriots
Overall B-
ValueB NeedB TradesB- FutureB-
The Patriots checked most of the boxes and earned a B-.

You can draft well and still miss the point. The Patriots did plenty of tidy work and somehow never got around to edge rusher, which was the need that mattered most. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B-.

If one pick saves this weekend, it is Bullock. Every board in the league had Rourke lower, and that gap is the story. Job largely done: wide receiver settled and 4 of 8 of the wish list covered.

A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.

Pick Analysis
Pick3 Rnd1 Joe Alt
They took Joe Alt at par in the 3rd overall pick, which is nothing to complain about. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick34 Rnd2 Keon Coleman
Fair-plus on Keon Coleman, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick68 Rnd3 Calen Bullock
A tidy bit of business in No. 68, where Calen Bullock graded well above the range. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick103 Rnd4 J. Michael Sturdivant
J. Michael Sturdivant in pick No. 103 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick144 Rnd5 Brennan Armstrong
Brennan Armstrong at Round 5, Pick 8 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the quarterback. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick182 Rnd6 Justin Walley
The board had Justin Walley higher than the Round 6 slot, and the cornerback fell to them anyway. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick224 Rnd7 Kurtis Rourke
A conviction pick on Kurtis Rourke at the 224th pick that the board grades a round light. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick228 Rnd7 Nathaniel Watson
By-the-book stuff, Nathaniel Watson at slot 228 squarely in line with his ranking. A minor itch, scratched.
