There is conviction, and then there is this. The Texans took Desmond Watson a full 64 picks ahead of where the board had him, an overdraft steep enough that it colors the whole weekend.

They banked enough surplus on Walker to cover a lot of smaller sins. For all the activity, running back went untouched, which is hard to explain.

The roster is better shaped than it was, with wide receiver chief among the fixes.

Bottom line, more hits than misses and a roster nudged the right way.
