Draft Grade — Browns
Overall B-
ValueB- NeedB TradesC- FutureA
No fireworks, just a tidy B- for the Browns.

Somehow the biggest item on the list survived the weekend. The Browns never addressed quarterback, and it is the kind of gap that lingers. It nets out to a B-, which feels about right.

The cost of the Miller reach is exactly the players who went right after him. If one pick saves this weekend, it is Tate.

Stockpiling next year's capital is patient, if unglamorous, asset work.

Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.

Pick Analysis
Pick18 Rnd1 Carnell Tate
In slot 18 they get a true top target, and a steal at that. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick24 Rnd1 Olaivavega Ioane
In the 24th pick they get a cornerstone up front. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick39 Rnd2 Chris Bell
Chris Bell in No. 39 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick49 Rnd2 Blake Miller
A conviction pick on Blake Miller at the 49th overall pick that the board grades a round light. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick70 Rnd3 Connor Lew
Connor Lew in Round 3, Pick 6 is fair value, right on his grade. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick107 Rnd4 Jude Bowry
A reach for Jude Bowry in pick No. 107; a little patience would have been rewarded. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick139 Rnd5 Domani Jackson
They paid sticker price for Domani Jackson in pick 139, and that is fine. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick144 Rnd5 Jalen Stroman
A clean, defensible pick in the Round 5 slot with a little surplus value in Jalen Stroman. The roster fit checks out.
Pick147 Rnd5 DJ Campbell
DJ Campbell in slot 147 is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. It fills a real need, too.
Pick204 Rnd6 De'Zhaun Stribling
De'Zhaun Stribling at the 204th pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick248 Rnd7 Rueben Owens II
Rueben Owens II at Round 7, Pick 32 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the running back. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
