Larceny in Round 3, Pick 23 lands the Texans a B, Rakestraw Jr. and all.

Somebody in No. 86 was going to get robbed, and it turned out to be the rest of the league. The Texans sat still while Ennis Rakestraw Jr., the No. 38 name on the board, slid all the way to them, then sprinted to the podium. No fireworks, but a solid B.

That edge rusher hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. They left with running back solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.

Bottom line, more hits than misses and a roster nudged the right way.

Pick Analysis
Pick23 Rnd1 Byron Murphy II
In pick No. 23 they get a pocket-collapsing interior rusher. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick59 Rnd2 Payton Wilson
Payton Wilson is a better player than Round 2, Pick 27 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. It fills a real need, too.
Pick86 Rnd3 Ennis Rakestraw Jr.
They barely believed it either: Ennis Rakestraw Jr. still on the board at the 86th overall pick. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick124 Rnd4 Renardo Green
They let Renardo Green come to them and pounced at pick 124. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick128 Rnd4 Isaac Guerendo
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Isaac Guerendo at the 128th pick. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick236 Rnd7 Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint
Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint in slot 236 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick245 Rnd7 Trey Knox
The board had Trey Knox higher than the Round 7 slot, and the tight end fell to them anyway. The roster fit checks out.
Pick250 Rnd7 Michael Barrett
Somehow Michael Barrett was still sitting there in No. 250, and they pounced on premier linebacker value. A need, and now a little less of one.
