Powerful DRAFTING FOR THETexans
Draft Selections
Draft Grade — Texans
Overall
B
ValueA-
NeedB-
TradesB-
FutureB-
Amegadjie should have been long gone. The Texans pounced, and earned a B. Somewhere a general manager is explaining how Kiran Amegadjie got past him. The Texans do not have to explain a thing at the 123rd overall pick. A dependable weekend that grades out a B.
They will need Lee to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. Leaving running back unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. Spending an early pick on cornerback with running back, edge rusher and other spots open is the decision the grade keeps circling back to.
Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.
Pick Analysis
Pick42
Rnd2
Cooper DeJean
Cooper DeJean slid further than he should have, and pick 42 is lovely value for the cornerback. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick59
Rnd2
Edgerrin Cooper
Value with a capital V on Edgerrin Cooper in pick No. 59, a genuine coup. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick86
Rnd3
Xavier Worthy
They robbed the room for Xavier Worthy here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick123
Rnd4
Kiran Amegadjie
Taking Kiran Amegadjie in the Round 4 slot is close to grand larceny; an offensive lineman that good had no business lasting this long. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick127
Rnd4
Mike Sainristil
The needs board was loud and they turned it down, spending the 127th pick on Mike Sainristil with running back, edge rusher and other spots unsolved.
Pick188
Rnd6
Logan Lee
A big swing on Logan Lee at the 188th overall pick, well ahead of any board in the building. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick247
Rnd7
Sam Hartman
A conviction pick on Sam Hartman at No. 247 that the board grades a round light. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
