Draft Grade — Texans
Overall B
ValueB+ NeedB- TradesB- FutureB-
The Texans let Wilson fall and pounced. Final grade: B.

The best pick of the weekend was also the simplest. The Texans watched Roman Wilson slide 40 picks past his grade and did not hesitate.

Reaching for Lee left real value on the table behind him. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through edge rusher. The Jackson pick reads as want over need, and the roster will feel it at edge rusher, offensive lineman and other spots.

Good work on the whole, with edge rusher the one box left unchecked.

Pick Analysis
Pick42 Rnd2 Quinyon Mitchell
Quinyon Mitchell in the 42nd overall pick is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick59 Rnd2 Edgerrin Cooper
They read the board right and Edgerrin Cooper was the payoff at No. 59. It fills a real need, too.
Pick86 Rnd3 Roman Wilson
Somehow Roman Wilson was still sitting there in slot 86, and they pounced on premier wide receiver value. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick123 Rnd4 Khyree Jackson
A surprising call. With edge rusher, offensive lineman and other spots still to address, they spent the Round 4 slot on Khyree Jackson, a cornerback they were not short of.
Pick127 Rnd4 Isaac Guerendo
They took Isaac Guerendo at par in pick No. 127, which is nothing to complain about. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick188 Rnd6 Logan Lee
This one needs a full-page explanation: Logan Lee in Round 6, Pick 13, miles early. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick247 Rnd7 Tyler Owens
They liked Tyler Owens enough to skip the value, taking him in the 247th pick. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
