Draft Grade — Texans
Overall B

The Texans cashed the board's mistake on Lassiter: B.

When a board-topper like Kamari Lassiter slides to No. 85, you do not overthink it, and the Texans did not.

Reaching for McLachlan left real value on the table behind him. A whole weekend of picks and interior defensive lineman is somehow still a want.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but interior defensive lineman.

Pick Analysis
Pick23 Rnd1 Rome Odunze
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Rome Odunze in the Round 1 slot. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick59 Rnd2 Chris Braswell
Chris Braswell at the 59th overall pick is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick85 Rnd3 Kamari Lassiter
Kamari Lassiter in the 85th pick is a gift, value that borders on unfair. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick124 Rnd4 Sione Vaki
A reach for Sione Vaki in No. 124; a little patience would have been rewarded. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick128 Rnd4 Dominick Puni
A offensive lineman of that caliber at pick No. 128 is the definition of value, full stop. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick161 Rnd5 Renardo Green
A tidy bit of business in pick 161, where Renardo Green graded well above the range. Depth on depth, at a spot that was hardly crying out.
Pick236 Rnd7 Blake Watson
Blake Watson at Round 7, Pick 16 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the running back. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick245 Rnd7 Tanner McLachlan
They reached into another round for Tanner McLachlan, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. It fills a real need, too.
