The Saints won the weekend at the trade table. Grade: B. Whoever sat across the table from the Saints should ask for a receipt. They cleaned the room out, prying loose far more value than they gave up, and it was the quiet MVP of their weekend.
They are betting Cole proves the room right and everyone else wrong. They will regret leaving quarterback for another day if the season turns on it. The Smith steal is the beam this whole class leans on.
Job largely done: edge rusher settled and 7 of 8 of the wish list covered.
A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.
