Draft Grade — Bengals
Overall A-
ValueA- NeedB+ TradesA+ FutureA-
Mbow should have been long gone. The Bengals pounced, and earned a A-.

The Bengals did not reach, did not trade up, did not blink. They just waited, and Marcus Mbow fell into the 81st overall pick. The sum of the weekend is a deserved A-.

The Diggs reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade. The phones were where this weekend was really won. A whole weekend of picks and wide receiver is somehow still a want.

The imported veterans give this class a floor the draft picks could not on their own.

Bottom line, they did the job about as well as it can be done.

Pick Analysis
Pick38 Rnd2 Tyler Warren
The board fumbled Tyler Warren all the way to the 38th overall pick, and they scooped it up. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick49 Rnd2 Derrick Harmon
Derrick Harmon in Round 2, Pick 17 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick81 Rnd3 Marcus Mbow
They robbed the room for Marcus Mbow here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick106 Rnd4 Denzel Burke
They paid up for Denzel Burke at the 106th pick when waiting would have done the job. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick119 Rnd4 Cam Skattebo
Cam Skattebo in pick No. 119 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick153 Rnd5 Luke Kandra
No edge and no loss on Luke Kandra in No. 153; it is a wash and a sensible one. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick193 Rnd6 Ty Robinson
Ty Robinson at the Round 6 slot is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick203 Rnd6 Clay Webb
Nice patience on Clay Webb, who had no business lasting to slot 203. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick204 Rnd6 Fadil Diggs
A big swing on Fadil Diggs at the 204th overall pick, well ahead of any board in the building. A minor itch, scratched.
