Draft Grade — Saints

FutureC
Grand theft in the Round 5 slot: the Saints steal King and grade out a B. Give the war room a raise for the dealing alone. The Saints came out ahead on every exchange that mattered, and it was not close.
That is a cornerback worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped quarterback, which is a strange place to end up. They will need Ceaser to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it.
The Kendall Fuller pickup adds a known quantity to a class of unknowns.
All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.
Pick Analysis
Pick21
Rnd1
Troy Fautanu
In No. 21 they get a cornerstone up front at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick41
Rnd2
Xavier Legette
A reasonable price with a little left over, Xavier Legette in pick No. 41. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick45
Rnd2
Edgerrin Cooper
A straight-up fair deal on Edgerrin Cooper at the 45th pick, value and slot in agreement. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick91
Rnd3
Calen Bullock
Calen Bullock in Round 3, Pick 28 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick126
Rnd4
Beaux Limmer
By-the-book stuff, Beaux Limmer at slot 126 squarely in line with his ranking. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick150
Rnd5
Nelson Ceaser
They went early on Nelson Ceaser in the 150th overall pick, and the value did not follow. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick168
Rnd5
Kalen King
Kalen King in the Round 5 slot should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick190
Rnd6
Isaiah Williams
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Isaiah Williams in the 190th pick. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick199
Rnd6
Jase McClellan
No drama and no debate, Jase McClellan went about where he belonged in Round 6, Pick 24. It fills a real need, too.
