Draft Grade — Bears
Overall A-
ValueB NeedB TradesA- FutureA+
The Bears drew a line under the quarterback search with Williams: A-.

The Bears spent the pick that matters most on Caleb Williams, and a roster that has been waiting on a passer can start to take shape. Very little went wrong, and the A- is earned.

The McCaffrey pick is the one they will point to when this weekend is judged. They punted on interior defensive lineman, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.

Adding Javon Kinlaw by trade rounds out the weekend beyond the rookies. It is a bet on later, and a defensible one for a team playing the long game.

Bottom line, with Caleb Williams leading the way, this is a class that should pay off fast and rarely be regretted.

Pick Analysis
Pick1 Rnd1 Caleb Williams
In pick No. 1 they get the arm they will build around at fair value.
Pick34 Rnd2 Chop Robinson
A quiet steal in the 34th pick: Chop Robinson for less than the market said. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick68 Rnd3 Xavier Legette
They will replay Xavier Legette at No. 68 for years; that is how good the value is. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick75 Rnd3 Patrick Paul
Good price on Patrick Paul in slot 75, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick122 Rnd4 Cam Hart
A top-tier cornerback at a bargain, Cam Hart in the 122nd overall pick, plain and simple. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick135 Rnd4 Beau Brade
They took Beau Brade at par in pick 135, which is nothing to complain about. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick185 Rnd6 Luke McCaffrey
Luke McCaffrey in the Round 6 slot is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
