Draft Grade — Bears
Overall
A-

FutureA+
Quarterback settled, Williams in the fold, and a A- for the Bears. The one hole that towered over the rest is filled. The Bears spent their marquee pick on Caleb Williams, and for the first time in a while there is a real answer at quarterback. One of the weekend's best, top to bottom, and a A- to show for it.
They robbed the room blind at the table, and it lifts the grade on its own. That interior defensive lineman hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.
Wilson has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. The Bears paired the rookies with proven help, Byron Murphy Jr. leading the way.
Bottom line, with Caleb Williams leading the way, this is a class that should pay off fast and rarely be regretted.
Pick Analysis
Pick1
Rnd1
Caleb Williams
In the Round 1 slot they get a passer to set the clock by. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick27
Rnd1
Chop Robinson
In slot 27 they get a problem off the edge at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick75
Rnd3
Devontez Walker
Nothing to complain about; Devontez Walker went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick101
Rnd4
Johnny Wilson
Johnny Wilson in pick No. 101 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick108
Rnd4
Blake Fisher
Blake Fisher in pick 108 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick122
Rnd4
James Williams
James Williams in the 122nd pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick134
Rnd4
Sataoa Laumea
A clean, defensible pick in Round 4, Pick 34 with a little surplus value in Sataoa Laumea. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick142
Rnd5
Kalen King
Fair-plus on Kalen King, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick166
Rnd5
Kitan Oladapo
The board had Kitan Oladapo higher than the 166th overall pick, and the safety fell to them anyway. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick204
Rnd6
Curtis Jacobs
Curtis Jacobs in No. 204 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. The roster fit checks out.
Pick240
Rnd7
Solomon Byrd
They reached a country mile for Solomon Byrd at pick 240, and the board is aghast. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
