Draft Grade — Jets
Overall C+
ValueB NeedB TradesD- FutureB-
The Jets won the night they stopped Gray from sliding. Grade: C+.

Every so often the board makes a mistake, and the Jets were there to profit. Joshua Gray, the No. 166 name on the board, should have been long gone before pick No. 206. It lands right in the middle: a C+, no more, no less.

The trades bled value they could not afford to lose. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped quarterback, which is a strange place to end up.

The cost of the Strong reach is exactly the players who went right after him.

So much rides on Mason Graham that the real verdict is a season or two away.

Pick Analysis
Pick7 Rnd1 Mason Graham
In No. 7 they get a wrecking ball inside. A real need, handled.
Pick42 Rnd2 Xavier Watts
No edge and no loss on Xavier Watts in slot 42; it is a wash and a sensible one. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick92 Rnd3 Ajani Cornelius
A reach on Ajani Cornelius in pick 92; the board had better options right there. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick96 Rnd3 Mason Taylor
A straight-up fair deal on Mason Taylor at the 96th pick, value and slot in agreement. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick108 Rnd4 Smael Mondon Jr.
Nice patience on Smael Mondon Jr., who had no business lasting to the Round 4 slot. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick144 Rnd5 Dorian Strong
They liked Dorian Strong enough to skip the value, taking him in the 144th overall pick. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick155 Rnd5 Pat Bryant
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Pat Bryant at Round 5, Pick 18 is the proof. The roster fit checks out.
Pick206 Rnd6 Joshua Gray
They barely believed it either: Joshua Gray still on the board at pick No. 206. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
