Draft Grade — 49ers
Overall A-
ValueA NeedB TradesA+ FutureB
Grand theft in slot 255: the 49ers steal Amos and grade out a A-.

The best pick of the weekend was also the simplest. The 49ers watched Trey Amos slide 205 picks past his grade and did not hesitate.

The dealing alone would carry a lesser class. For all the activity, tight end went untouched, which is hard to explain. They left with offensive lineman solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.

Add it up and this is about as clean as a draft weekend gets.

Pick Analysis
Pick11 Rnd1 Abdul Carter
In the 11th pick they get a problem off the edge, outstanding value to boot. A real need, handled.
Pick49 Rnd2 Armand Membou
Nice patience on Armand Membou, who had no business lasting to No. 49. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick75 Rnd3 Walter Nolen
Taking Walter Nolen in slot 75 is close to grand larceny; an interior defensive lineman that good had no business lasting this long. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick99 Rnd3 Wyatt Milum
Circle this one: Wyatt Milum at pick No. 99 is a fall that decides a draft. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick112 Rnd4 Jihaad Campbell
A linebacker of that caliber at Round 4, Pick 11 is the definition of value, full stop. The roster fit checks out.
Pick138 Rnd4 Cam Ward
You do not let a quarterback like Cam Ward reach the 138th overall pick and blink. They did not. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick139 Rnd4 Jahdae Barron
Steal is underselling it; Jahdae Barron at the Round 4 slot is a heist with the alarm still ringing. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick172 Rnd5 Cam Skattebo
The board fumbled Cam Skattebo all the way to pick 172, and they scooped it up. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick189 Rnd6 Tre Harris
A top-tier wide receiver at a bargain, Tre Harris in the 189th pick, plain and simple. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick228 Rnd7 T.J. Sanders
They robbed the room for T.J. Sanders here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick232 Rnd7 Malachi Moore
They will replay Malachi Moore at No. 232 for years; that is how good the value is. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick255 Rnd7 Trey Amos
Somehow Trey Amos was still sitting there in Round 7, Pick 37, and they pounced on premier cornerback value. Insurance at a position that did not really ask for it.
