The jury is out on the Lions. For now, C. Somehow the biggest item on the list survived the weekend. The Lions never addressed safety, and it is the kind of gap that lingers. A mixed bag that lands at C.
Every board in the league had Horsley lower, and that gap is the story. That is a cornerback worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly. Spend now, pay later; the math only works if this class delivers.
Cornerback is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
Hit on Tetairoa McMillan and the swing picks, and this ages a lot better than it grades today.
Pick Analysis
Pick15
Rnd1
Tetairoa McMillan
A clean, defensible pick in the 15th overall pick with a little surplus value in Tetairoa McMillan. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick35
Rnd2
Jihaad Campbell
They took Jihaad Campbell at par in the 35th pick, which is nothing to complain about. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick37
Rnd2
Tyler Booker
Tyler Booker in No. 37 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick130
Rnd4
Oluwafemi Oladejo
They paid up for Oluwafemi Oladejo at the Round 4 slot when waiting would have done the job. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick196
Rnd6
Jason Marshall Jr.
They liked Jason Marshall Jr. enough to skip the value, taking him in Round 6, Pick 20. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick228
Rnd7
Cam Horsley
A conviction pick on Cam Horsley at pick No. 228 that the board grades a round light. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick244
Rnd7
Jermari Harris
A tidy bit of business in slot 244, where Jermari Harris graded well above the range. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
