The Steelers won the night they stopped Smith from sliding. Grade: B+.

The real work happened on the phones. The Steelers fleeced their trade partners, turning their picks into a noticeably bigger pile than they started with. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B+.

However the rest shakes out, Smith at that price is a win they earned. Spending an early pick on defensive back with quarterback, interior defensive lineman and other spots open is the decision the grade keeps circling back to.

That quarterback hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.

A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.
