Luka67 DRAFTING FOR THELions

A respectable, level-headed haul for the Lions: B-. There is conviction, and then there is this. The Lions took Eric Gentry a full 135 picks ahead of where the board had him, an overdraft steep enough that it colors the whole weekend.
For all the activity, quarterback went untouched, which is hard to explain. Cornerback is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
The trenches got the money picks, top to bottom. Quantity was the play, for better or worse.
All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.
Pick Analysis
Pick20
Rnd1
Olaivavega Ioane
In Round 1, Pick 20 they get a building block for the line. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick50
Rnd2
Max Iheanachor
Max Iheanachor at slot 50 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick118
Rnd4
Hezekiah Masses
They paid up for Hezekiah Masses at pick 118 when waiting would have done the job. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick150
Rnd5
Sam Roush
Sam Roush at No. 150 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick155
Rnd5
Kaleb Proctor
A reach on Kaleb Proctor in pick No. 155; the board had better options right there. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick186
Rnd6
VJ Payne
VJ Payne at the 186th pick is a conviction pick that outran the value. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick203
Rnd6
Bud Clark
A market-rate safety, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Bud Clark. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick212
Rnd6
Nick Barrett
A real head-scratcher, Nick Barrett in Round 6, Pick 33 is miles ahead of his ranking. A want more than a need, though you can never have too many.
Pick221
Rnd7
Keyron Crawford
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Keyron Crawford well ahead of where he belonged. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick222
Rnd7
Eric Gentry
This one needs a full-page explanation: Eric Gentry in No. 222, miles early. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
