Draft Grade — Steelers

FutureA+
The Steelers bled value on every deal, hence the C+. The Dominic Zvada pick is the one that will follow the Steelers into the fall. They took him 68 spots ahead of his grade, and the board is not shy about saying so. The good and the questionable cancel out to a C+.
They handed away value on the phones that the picks cannot earn back. That Roush pick is the receipt they will wave around later.
Leaving interior defensive lineman unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. Quarterback is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
If Germie Bernard and a couple of the gambles land, hindsight will be kinder than this grade.
Pick Analysis
Pick53
Rnd2
Germie Bernard
They liked Germie Bernard enough to skip the value, taking him in Round 2, Pick 21. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick85
Rnd3
Treydan Stukes
They read the board right and Treydan Stukes was the payoff at the 85th pick. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick99
Rnd3
Jalen Farmer
The board had cheaper options than Jalen Farmer at slot 99, and it noticed. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick121
Rnd4
Sam Roush
They barely believed it either: Sam Roush still on the board at the 121st overall pick. It fills a real need, too.
Pick135
Rnd4
Drew Allar
They reached into another round for Drew Allar, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick161
Rnd5
Kage Casey
They took Kage Casey at par in No. 161, which is nothing to complain about. Nice player, but the depth chart did not need him here.
Pick241
Rnd7
Dominic Zvada
Dominic Zvada at the 241st pick is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. They doubled down on a strength rather than a need.
