Draft Grade — Chiefs
Overall B+
ValueB+ NeedB TradesA+ FutureB-
Best value of the weekend goes to the Chiefs for Golday: B+.

The best pick of the weekend was also the simplest. The Chiefs watched Jake Golday slide 49 picks past his grade and did not hesitate. It nets out to a B+, which feels about right.

The dealing alone would carry a lesser class. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped tight end, which is a strange place to end up. If Tiernan pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about.

Wide receiver was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.

In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the tight end spot they never got to.

Pick Analysis
Pick24 Rnd1 Arvell Reese
In pick 24 they get the heartbeat of the defense, outstanding value to boot. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick39 Rnd2 Emmanuel Pregnon
They took Emmanuel Pregnon at par in the Round 2 slot, which is nothing to complain about. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick40 Rnd2 Caleb Tiernan
A reach on Caleb Tiernan in the 40th overall pick; the board had better options right there. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick70 Rnd3 Jonah Coleman
Jonah Coleman at the 70th pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick74 Rnd3 Chris Bell
Circle this one: Chris Bell at No. 74 is a fall that decides a draft. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick107 Rnd4 Treydan Stukes
A tidy bit of business in pick No. 107, where Treydan Stukes graded well above the range. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick109 Rnd4 Jake Golday
Jake Golday at slot 109 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. The roster fit checks out.
Pick146 Rnd5 Bud Clark
Bud Clark at Round 5, Pick 8 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick176 Rnd5 Aaron Graves
They let Aaron Graves come to them and pounced at Round 5, Pick 38. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
