The board owed the Bengals one, and it paid up: Jake Slaughter, the No. 42 name on the board, sitting there at Round 3, Pick 9 like a gift left on the doorstep. A dependable weekend that grades out a B-.

Leaving cornerback unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. Offensive lineman is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.

The back end got a real overhaul.
