Draft Grade — Ravens
Overall B
ValueB- NeedB+ TradesB+ FutureB-
No fireworks, just a tidy B for the Ravens.

You can fall in love with a player. You are not supposed to marry him in the wrong round. The Ravens did exactly that with Eric Gentry in Round 7, Pick 33. They moved the roster forward and banked a B for it.

The Ponds steal is the beam this whole class leans on. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through quarterback. They squeezed a little extra out of every move they made.

Cornerback was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.

In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the quarterback spot they never got to.

Pick Analysis
Pick18 Rnd1 Makai Lemon
In the 18th pick they get a matchup problem out wide. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick45 Rnd2 Caleb Banks
Nothing to complain about; Caleb Banks went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick49 Rnd2 Gennings Dunker
Gennings Dunker at pick 49 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick80 Rnd3 D'Angelo Ponds
They robbed the room for D'Angelo Ponds here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick115 Rnd4 Malachi Lawrence
Malachi Lawrence at Round 4, Pick 15 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick152 Rnd5 Tanner Koziol
By-the-book stuff, Tanner Koziol at No. 152 squarely in line with his ranking. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick160 Rnd5 Ephesians Prysock
Ephesians Prysock in the Round 5 slot is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick172 Rnd5 Zxavian Harris
A real head-scratcher, Zxavian Harris in No. 172 is miles ahead of his ranking. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick173 Rnd5 Febechi Nwaiwu
Febechi Nwaiwu in the 173rd pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick240 Rnd7 Hykeem Williams
A wild overpay on Hykeem Williams in pick 240, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick249 Rnd7 Eric Gentry
They reached into another round for Eric Gentry, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick252 Rnd7 Adam Randall
Adam Randall at slot 252 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
