Slaughter should have been long gone. The Vikings pounced, and earned a B.

The Vikings spent the weekend waiting on one name, and it fell: Jake Slaughter, the No. 57 name on the board, in the 82nd pick.

For all the activity, quarterback went untouched, which is hard to explain. Offensive lineman is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.

Almost all the early capital went to that side of the ball.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but quarterback.

Pick Analysis
Pick18 Rnd1 Jeremiyah Love
They let Jeremiyah Love come to them and pounced at No. 18. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick49 Rnd2 Lee Hunter
A straight-up fair deal on Lee Hunter at Round 2, Pick 17, value and slot in agreement. The roster fit checks out.
Pick82 Rnd3 Jake Slaughter
A offensive lineman of that caliber at pick 82 is the definition of value, full stop. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick97 Rnd3 Nicholas Singleton
Nicholas Singleton in the 97th pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick161 Rnd5 Aamil Wagner
No drama and no debate, Aamil Wagner went about where he belonged in the 161st overall pick. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick194 Rnd6 Eric McAlister
A market-rate wide receiver, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Eric McAlister. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick234 Rnd7 Antonio Kite
A clean, defensible pick in slot 234 with a little surplus value in Antonio Kite. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick240 Rnd7 Thaddeus Dixon
Thaddeus Dixon at the Round 7 slot is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. Nice player, but the depth chart did not need him here.
