Draft Grade — Vikings
Overall
B-

FutureB-
A respectable, level-headed haul for the Vikings: B-. There is reaching, and then there is Kendal Daniels at pick No. 240. The Vikings jumped the board by 58 and dared it to prove them wrong.
The quarterback hole is the one line item this class does not answer. Getting Reese where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class. Job largely done: safety settled and 6 of 8 of the wish list covered.
Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.
Pick Analysis
Pick18
Rnd1
Arvell Reese
Arvell Reese slipping to the 18th pick is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick49
Rnd2
Lee Hunter
Lee Hunter at pick 49 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick91
Rnd3
Tacario Davis
A wild overpay on Tacario Davis in pick No. 91, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick97
Rnd3
Logan Jones
They talked themselves into Logan Jones at Round 3, Pick 33, and the board did not agree. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick126
Rnd4
Mike Washington Jr.
No drama and no debate, Mike Washington Jr. went about where he belonged in No. 126. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick161
Rnd5
Bud Clark
They left a pile of value on the table to take Bud Clark this early at the Round 5 slot. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick194
Rnd6
Josh Cuevas
Josh Cuevas at pick 194 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick234
Rnd7
Roman Hemby
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Roman Hemby well ahead of where he belonged. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick240
Rnd7
Kendal Daniels
Kendal Daniels at No. 240 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick254
Rnd7
Jaquaize Pettaway
Jaquaize Pettaway in slot 254 is fair value, right on his grade. A need, and now a little less of one.
