Draft Grade — Vikings
Overall D
ValueB+ NeedB TradesF FutureB-
The Vikings let Rodriguez fall and pounced. Final grade: D.

The phones were a trap the Vikings kept walking into, shipping out surplus on nearly every deal. A weekend that fought the value and lost, hence the D.

They will answer for taking linebacker early while edge rusher, offensive lineman and other spots went begging. For all the activity, edge rusher went untouched, which is hard to explain. Every board in the league had Reid lower, and that gap is the story.

That is a linebacker worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly.

Bottom line, they will need several of these picks to beat their grades just to break even, and edge rusher is still a hole.

Pick Analysis
Pick18 Rnd1 Jordyn Tyson
Good price on Jordyn Tyson in pick No. 18, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick49 Rnd2 Anthony Hill Jr.
Anthony Hill Jr. slid further than he should have, and No. 49 is lovely value for the linebacker. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick63 Rnd2 D'Angelo Ponds
D'Angelo Ponds slipping to Round 2, Pick 31 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick82 Rnd3 Kamari Ramsey
Kamari Ramsey in the 82nd pick is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick97 Rnd3 Jacob Rodriguez
Of all the spots to shop, they chose linebacker. Jacob Rodriguez in the 97th overall pick leaves edge rusher, offensive lineman and other spots for later.
Pick161 Rnd5 Tanner Koziol
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Tanner Koziol at slot 161 is the proof. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick234 Rnd7 Cole Payton
Cole Payton in slot 234 is fair value, right on his grade. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick240 Rnd7 Desmond Reid
They liked Desmond Reid enough to skip the value, taking him in pick 240. The roster fit checks out.
