Draft Grade — Saints
Overall B+
ValueC+ NeedB+ TradesA+ FutureB-
The Saints won the weekend at the trade table. Grade: B+.

Whoever sat across the table from the Saints should ask for a receipt. They cleaned the room out, prying loose far more value than they gave up, and it was the quiet MVP of their weekend.

The Campbell reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped cornerback, which is a strange place to end up.

Getting Kilgore where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class. Adding Ja'Marr Chase by trade rounds out the weekend beyond the rookies.

In sum, a sensible class that nudges the roster the right way.

Pick Analysis
Pick7 Rnd1 Jeremiyah Love
In the 7th overall pick they get a bell-cow for the offense. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick38 Rnd2 Tyreak Sapp
They paid up for Tyreak Sapp at the 38th pick when waiting would have done the job. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick67 Rnd3 Xavier Chaplin
A reach for Xavier Chaplin in No. 67; a little patience would have been rewarded. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick128 Rnd4 Jalon Kilgore
A slide stopped in Round 4, Pick 28, with Jalon Kilgore worth more than the price. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick138 Rnd4 Michael Trigg
A straight-up fair deal on Michael Trigg at pick No. 138, value and slot in agreement. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick144 Rnd5 Sammy Omosigho
A reach on Sammy Omosigho in slot 144; the board had better options right there. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick168 Rnd5 DJ Campbell
DJ Campbell at pick 168 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
