FutureC+
The Eagles turned the phones into found money: B+. Nobody else had Jalen Thompson anywhere near the 137th overall pick. The Eagles did, by 102 spots, and that gap is the whole story.
The trade ledger is the best part of the whole weekend. However the rest shakes out, Iamaleava at that price is a win they earned.
They chose more darts over a bigger single swing. The imported veterans give this class a floor the draft picks could not on their own.
Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.
Pick Analysis
Pick41
Rnd2
Dillon Thieneman
They read the board right and Dillon Thieneman was the payoff at the 41st overall pick. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick50
Rnd2
Nico Iamaleava
The board fumbled Nico Iamaleava all the way to No. 50, and they scooped it up. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick56
Rnd2
Makai Lemon
Makai Lemon in slot 56 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick73
Rnd3
Drayk Bowen
A tidy little value on Drayk Bowen in the 73rd pick, a step better than break-even. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick87
Rnd3
Connor Lew
Connor Lew at pick No. 87 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick89
Rnd3
Domonique Orange
By-the-book stuff, Domonique Orange at the Round 3 slot squarely in line with his ranking. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick97
Rnd3
Kenyon Sadiq
Kenyon Sadiq at the 97th pick is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. The roster fit checks out.
Pick109
Rnd4
Monroe Freeling
Fair-plus on Monroe Freeling, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick125
Rnd4
Braylan Shelby
Braylan Shelby at Round 4, Pick 23 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick128
Rnd4
Darius Taylor
Darius Taylor at No. 128 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick129
Rnd4
Evan Stewart
The board had Evan Stewart higher than pick 129, and the wide receiver fell to them anyway. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick130
Rnd4
Raylen Wilson
They let Raylen Wilson come to them and pounced at slot 130. A want more than a need, though you can never have too many.
Pick134
Rnd4
Patrick Payton
They left a pile of value on the table to take Patrick Payton this early at pick No. 134. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick137
Rnd4
Jalen Thompson
They reached a country mile for Jalen Thompson at the Round 4 slot, and the board is aghast. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick164
Rnd5
Jonah Coleman
Jonah Coleman slid further than he should have, and slot 164 is lovely value for the running back. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick177
Rnd6
Xavier Nwankpa
A tidy bit of business in the 177th overall pick, where Xavier Nwankpa graded well above the range. It fills a real need, too.
Pick252
Rnd7
King Mack
Quietly one of the better values of the day, King Mack at pick 252. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
