Draft Grade — Bills
Overall C+
ValueB NeedB+ TradesF FutureB-
The Bills lost the trade table, and the C+ tells the story.

There was a run on nobody at that position, and the Bills started one anyway for George Gumbs Jr., 100 picks ahead of schedule. Call it a C+ and check back in two years.

The trades bled value they could not afford to lose. Getting McNeil-Warren where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class.

That quarterback hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.

If Christen Miller and a couple of the gambles land, hindsight will be kinder than this grade.

Pick Analysis
Pick57 Rnd2 Christen Miller
Christen Miller at pick No. 57 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick60 Rnd2 CJ Allen
CJ Allen in the Round 2 slot should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick81 Rnd3 Emmanuel McNeil-Warren
A top-tier safety at a bargain, Emmanuel McNeil-Warren in pick 81, plain and simple. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick89 Rnd3 Jake Golday
A edge rusher of that caliber at No. 89 is the definition of value, full stop. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick91 Rnd3 Domonique Orange
Domonique Orange at the 91st pick is money in the bank, a interior defensive lineman taken below his worth. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick126 Rnd4 Ja'Kobi Lane
Ja'Kobi Lane at the 126th overall pick is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick165 Rnd5 DJ Campbell
This one needs a full-page explanation: DJ Campbell in No. 165, miles early. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick168 Rnd5 George Gumbs Jr.
A real head-scratcher, George Gumbs Jr. in Round 5, Pick 28 is miles ahead of his ranking. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick182 Rnd6 Ephesians Prysock
By-the-book stuff, Ephesians Prysock at slot 182 squarely in line with his ranking. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick233 Rnd7 Zavion Thomas
Zavion Thomas is a better player than the 233rd pick suggests; smart patience, rewarded. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
