Draft Grade — Jets
Overall B
ValueB NeedB+ TradesB- FutureB-
A sensible, unshowy class lands the Jets a B.

The Jets banked a tidy surplus when Sawyer Robertson lasted to pick No. 192, a few spots past his grade.

They are betting Nussmeier proves the room right and everyone else wrong. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped interior defensive lineman, which is a strange place to end up. Quarterback is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.

Good work on the whole, with interior defensive lineman the one box left unchecked.

Pick Analysis
Pick2 Rnd1 Rueben Bain Jr.
They took Rueben Bain Jr. at par in No. 2, which is nothing to complain about. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick16 Rnd1 Makai Lemon
In slot 16 they get a weapon on the perimeter at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick33 Rnd2 Garrett Nussmeier
Garrett Nussmeier at Round 2, Pick 1 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick44 Rnd2 Anthony Hill Jr.
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Anthony Hill Jr. in the 44th pick. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick103 Rnd4 Genesis Smith
Genesis Smith at pick No. 103 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick175 Rnd5 Oscar Delp
Oscar Delp in pick 175 lands just on the right side of the ledger. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick178 Rnd5 Earnest Greene III
A slide stopped in No. 178, with Earnest Greene III worth more than the price. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick192 Rnd6 Sawyer Robertson
The board had Sawyer Robertson higher than pick No. 192, and the quarterback fell to them anyway. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick206 Rnd6 Jerry Wilson
Jerry Wilson in Round 6, Pick 27 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick209 Rnd6 Barion Brown
No drama and no debate, Barion Brown went about where he belonged in slot 209. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick218 Rnd7 Dominic Zvada
Dominic Zvada at the Round 7 slot jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. They added to a strength when a need was still open elsewhere.
Pick242 Rnd7 Rueben Owens II
Rueben Owens II in the 242nd overall pick is fair value, right on his grade. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
