Draft Grade — Colts
Overall B-
ValueB- NeedC+ TradesB- FutureB-
The Colts checked most of the boxes and earned a B-.

The Colts spent real capital to be 65 picks early on Da'Shawn Womack, and the board is going to hold them to it. More right than wrong, and a B- to match.

Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Moten. The Thieneman pick reads as want over need, and the roster will feel it at wide receiver, quarterback and other spots. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped wide receiver, which is a strange place to end up.

They left with running back solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.

Good work on the whole, with wide receiver the one box left unchecked.

Pick Analysis
Pick8 Rnd1 Caleb Downs
In Round 1, Pick 8 they get an enforcer at safety at fair value. More want than need.
Pick40 Rnd2 Dillon Thieneman
A surprising call. With wide receiver, quarterback and other spots still to address, they spent the 40th overall pick on Dillon Thieneman, a safety they were not short of.
Pick72 Rnd3 Chase Bisontis
Chase Bisontis at the Round 3 slot is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. The roster fit checks out.
Pick108 Rnd4 Earnest Greene III
Earnest Greene III in slot 108 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick147 Rnd5 Josh Moten
Circle this one: Josh Moten at pick 147 is a fall that decides a draft. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick186 Rnd6 Da'Shawn Womack
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Da'Shawn Womack well ahead of where he belonged. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick221 Rnd7 Jordan Hall
Value said wait; Jordan Hall in Round 7, Pick 5 says they were not listening. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick247 Rnd7 Markis Deal
Markis Deal at pick 247 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick249 Rnd7 Roman Hemby
Roman Hemby at No. 249 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
