The war room fell hard for Evan Williams, and it showed at pick No. 178: 67 picks ahead of a board that had other ideas.
They robbed the room blind at the table, and it lifts the grade on its own. For all the activity, cornerback went untouched, which is hard to explain. The Eagles indulged a want in Gray while a need in cornerback, edge rusher and other spots stayed open.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but cornerback.
Pick-by-Pick
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Edgerrin Cooper at pick No. 50. A minor itch, scratched.
They paid sticker price for Ricky Pearsall in Round 2, Pick 21, and that is fine. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
They liked Cooper Beebe enough to skip the value, taking him in the 59th overall pick. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Isaac Guerendo at pick 97 is a conviction pick that outran the value. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Of all the spots to shop, they chose linebacker. Cedric Gray in No. 105 leaves cornerback, edge rusher and other spots for later.
Value said wait; Hunter Nourzad in the 160th pick says they were not listening. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Walter Rouse in pick No. 170 is fair value, right on his grade. A need, and now a little less of one.
Evan Williams in the Round 6 slot is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. It fills a real need, too.
