Draft Grade — Texans

Best value of the weekend goes to the Texans for Lew: B. Somebody in slot 106 was going to get robbed, and it turned out to be the rest of the league. The Texans sat still while Connor Lew, the No. 62 name on the board, slid all the way to them, then sprinted to the podium. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B.
A whole weekend of picks and wide receiver is somehow still a want. Job largely done: running back settled and 6 of 8 of the wish list covered.
Good work on the whole, with wide receiver the one box left unchecked.
Pick Analysis
Pick28
Rnd1
Sonny Styles
In pick No. 28 they get a green-dot type in the middle. A real need, handled.
Pick38
Rnd2
Dillon Thieneman
A clean, defensible pick in the Round 2 slot with a little surplus value in Dillon Thieneman. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick59
Rnd2
Caleb Banks
Somehow Caleb Banks was still sitting there in slot 59, and they pounced on premier interior defensive lineman value. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick69
Rnd3
Jadarian Price
Nice patience on Jadarian Price, who had no business lasting to Round 3, Pick 5. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick106
Rnd4
Connor Lew
A offensive lineman of that caliber at the 106th pick is the definition of value, full stop. It fills a real need, too.
Pick128
Rnd4
Eli Raridon
Eli Raridon at the 128th overall pick is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the tight end. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick165
Rnd5
Jude Bowry
Jude Bowry at pick 165 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick243
Rnd7
TJ Hall
TJ Hall at No. 243 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick244
Rnd7
Jalon Daniels
Value with a capital V on Jalon Daniels in pick 244, a genuine coup. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
