Draft Grade — Saints
Overall B
ValueB+ NeedA- TradesB- FutureB-
Llewellyn should have been long gone. The Saints pounced, and earned a B.

You could see the war room lean forward. Max Llewellyn at slot 190 is the sort of fall that does not happen, except it just did. No fireworks, but a solid B.

The cornerback spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. They went 3 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.

All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.

Pick Analysis
Pick8 Rnd1 David Bailey
Fair-plus on David Bailey, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick42 Rnd2 Caleb Lomu
Caleb Lomu at pick 42 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick73 Rnd3 Germie Bernard
A tidy bit of business in pick No. 73, where Germie Bernard graded well above the range. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick132 Rnd4 Genesis Smith
Genesis Smith in the 132nd pick should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick136 Rnd4 Austin Barber
Austin Barber in Round 4, Pick 36 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick150 Rnd5 Caden Curry
Caden Curry at the 150th overall pick is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick172 Rnd5 Jakobe Thomas
They barely believed it either: Jakobe Thomas still on the board at the Round 5 slot. A want dressed up as a pick, at a spot they had covered.
Pick190 Rnd6 Max Llewellyn
Max Llewellyn in slot 190 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
