Draft Grade — Steelers
Overall B
ValueB NeedB TradesA- FutureB
The Steelers cashed the board's mistake on McNeil-Warren: B.

You could see the war room lean forward. Emmanuel McNeil-Warren at the Round 3 slot is the sort of fall that does not happen, except it just did.

For all the activity, edge rusher went untouched, which is hard to explain. Reaching for Cooper Jr. left real value on the table behind him.

Small wins on the phones, but wins all the same. On the needs board they went 8 of 9, with quarterback the one that mattered most.

A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.

Pick Analysis
Pick47 Rnd2 Omar Cooper Jr.
A premium they did not need to pay, Omar Cooper Jr. a notch or two before his time. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick53 Rnd2 Gennings Dunker
Nothing to complain about; Gennings Dunker went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick76 Rnd3 Emmanuel McNeil-Warren
Steal is underselling it; Emmanuel McNeil-Warren at pick 76 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick78 Rnd3 Jacob Rodriguez
Jacob Rodriguez in the Round 3 slot is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick85 Rnd3 Skyler Bell
No drama and no debate, Skyler Bell went about where he belonged in No. 85. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick99 Rnd3 Sam Roush
A slide stopped in the 99th overall pick, with Sam Roush worth more than the price. It fills a real need, too.
Pick113 Rnd4 Julian Neal
A clean, defensible pick in the 113th pick with a little surplus value in Julian Neal. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick121 Rnd4 Mike Washington Jr.
A reasonable price with a little left over, Mike Washington Jr. in pick No. 121. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick135 Rnd4 DeMonte Capehart
Fair-plus on DeMonte Capehart, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick161 Rnd5 Drew Allar
Drew Allar is a better player than No. 161 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick216 Rnd6 Kaden Wetjen
Kaden Wetjen in the 216th pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. The roster fit checks out.
Pick224 Rnd7 Thaddeus Dixon
They read the board right and Thaddeus Dixon was the payoff at pick 224. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick230 Rnd7 Aiden Fisher
Aiden Fisher in slot 230 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick237 Rnd7 Trey Zuhn III
By-the-book stuff, Trey Zuhn III at pick No. 237 squarely in line with his ranking. A want dressed up as a pick, at a spot they had covered.
