The Steelers let Scott fall into their laps, and walked away with a B-. This is the pick they will still be bragging about in July: Keionte Scott, the No. 68 name on the board, stolen at the 99th pick. It does the job without flash, and the B- reflects it.
A whole weekend of picks and interior defensive lineman is somehow still a want. Every board in the league had Moss lower, and that gap is the story. Job largely done: quarterback settled and 5 of 9 of the wish list covered.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the interior defensive lineman spot they never got to.
Pick Analysis
Pick21
Rnd1
Denzel Boston
They paid sticker price for Denzel Boston in the 21st overall pick, and that is fine. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick53
Rnd2
Dillon Thieneman
The board fumbled Dillon Thieneman all the way to No. 53, and they scooped it up. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick76
Rnd3
Carson Beck
The board had cheaper options than Carson Beck at pick No. 76, and it noticed. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick85
Rnd3
Jake Golday
They robbed the room for Jake Golday here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick99
Rnd3
Keionte Scott
Keionte Scott in Round 3, Pick 35 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick121
Rnd4
Bryce Lance
Bryce Lance at pick 121 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the wide receiver. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick135
Rnd4
Ar'maj Reed-Adams
Ar'maj Reed-Adams at the Round 4 slot is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick159
Rnd5
Keagen Trost
Good price on Keagen Trost in slot 159, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. A want dressed up as a pick, at a spot they had covered.
Pick213
Rnd6
Miller Moss
They went early on Miller Moss in pick 213, and the value did not follow. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick224
Rnd7
Thaddeus Dixon
Thaddeus Dixon at the Round 7 slot is money in the bank, a cornerback taken below his worth. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick226
Rnd7
Isaiah Nwokobia
A tidy bit of business in pick No. 226, where Isaiah Nwokobia graded well above the range. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick237
Rnd7
Zavion Thomas
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Zavion Thomas at slot 237 is the proof. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
