Draft Grade — Ravens
Overall B-

Nothing loud, just a tidy B- for the Ravens.

Call it a hunch or call it a gamble, but the Ravens spent Round 5, Pick 35 on Thaddeus Dixon, a name most had 42 spots down the list. It does the job without flash, and the B- reflects it.

That Slaughter pick is the receipt they will wave around later. They will regret leaving running back for another day if the season turns on it.

The roster is better shaped than it was, with cornerback chief among the fixes. Almost all the early capital went to that side of the ball.

A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.

Pick Analysis
Pick14 Rnd1 Carnell Tate
No edge and no loss on Carnell Tate in the 14th overall pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick45 Rnd2 Emmanuel Pregnon
Emmanuel Pregnon at No. 45 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick80 Rnd3 Jake Slaughter
Steal is underselling it; Jake Slaughter at pick 80 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick115 Rnd4 Malachi Lawrence
They left a pile of value on the table to take Malachi Lawrence this early at Round 4, Pick 15. The roster fit checks out.
Pick152 Rnd5 DeMonte Capehart
Value with a capital V on DeMonte Capehart in the Round 5 slot, a genuine coup. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick160 Rnd5 Domani Jackson
A tidy little value on Domani Jackson in pick No. 160, a step better than break-even. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick172 Rnd5 Dallen Bentley
They reached a country mile for Dallen Bentley at the 172nd overall pick, and the board is aghast. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick173 Rnd5 Thaddeus Dixon
Value said wait; Thaddeus Dixon in Round 5, Pick 35 says they were not listening. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick249 Rnd7 Robert Spears-Jennings
They jumped the gun on Robert Spears-Jennings, taking him earlier than his grade liked. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick252 Rnd7 Tristan Leigh
A reach on Tristan Leigh in the 252nd pick; the board had better options right there. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
