Draft Grade — Vikings

The Vikings got the worse of every deal, and it shows in the D. The Vikings looked at the value chart, folded it up, and took Demon Clowney at the 240th pick regardless, 85 picks early. The board pushed back all weekend, and the D is the result.
They lost the exchange badly enough to drag the whole class down. Leaving quarterback unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.
The verdict is not kind, and fairly so; this class has a hill to climb.
Pick Analysis
Pick18
Rnd1
Avieon Terrell
They took Avieon Terrell at par in No. 18, which is nothing to complain about. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick39
Rnd2
Christen Miller
Fair-plus on Christen Miller, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick49
Rnd2
Jake Slaughter
Jake Slaughter at pick No. 49 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick82
Rnd3
Emmett Johnson
Emmett Johnson at Round 3, Pick 18 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It fills a real need, too.
Pick87
Rnd3
Harold Perkins Jr.
They jumped the gun on Harold Perkins Jr., taking him earlier than his grade liked. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick97
Rnd3
Blake Miller
They reached a country mile for Blake Miller at the 97th pick, and the board is aghast. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick161
Rnd5
Oscar Delp
Oscar Delp in the 161st overall pick is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick234
Rnd7
Kendrick Law
They paid up for Kendrick Law at Round 7, Pick 18 when waiting would have done the job. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick240
Rnd7
Demon Clowney
They reached into another round for Demon Clowney, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
