One DRAFTING FOR THESeahawks
Draft Grade — Seahawks
Overall
C+
ValueC
NeedB-
TradesB-
FutureB-
Flashes of a plan, unevenly run, for the Seahawks: C+. For all the names on the card, the loudest question went unanswered. The Seahawks walked out of the weekend still thin at wide receiver, a hole that has a way of deciding seasons.
Getting Ponds where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class. The Taaffe pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over.
Edge rusher was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
Bottom line, the swing picks will decide whether this ages well.
Pick Analysis
Pick32
Rnd1
Michael Taaffe
They liked Michael Taaffe enough to skip the value, taking him in slot 32. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick64
Rnd2
D'Angelo Ponds
A tidy bit of business in the 64th overall pick, where D'Angelo Ponds graded well above the range. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick96
Rnd3
Caden Curry
They paid a round early for Caden Curry in pick 96, more than the board wanted. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick211
Rnd6
Trey Zuhn III
A reach on Trey Zuhn III in pick No. 211; the board had better options right there. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
