FutureC+
The Bears let Scott fall into their laps, and walked away with a C+. The trade table was where it all came apart. The Bears shipped out far more than they hauled back, and no amount of spin dresses up the bill. For now it grades a C+, with the swing picks left to settle the rest.
Landing Scott that late papers over a lot of smaller sins. Every board in the league had Curry lower, and that gap is the story. The running back hole is the one line item this class does not answer.
Edge rusher was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
In the end, a coin-flip class: fine today, with a wide range of outcomes ahead.
Pick Analysis
Pick40
Rnd2
Lee Hunter
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Lee Hunter well ahead of where he belonged. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick57
Rnd2
Deontae Lawson
A clean, defensible pick in slot 57 with a little surplus value in Deontae Lawson. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick87
Rnd3
Caden Curry
Caden Curry at pick 87 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick89
Rnd3
Keionte Scott
Keionte Scott in the Round 3 slot is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick163
Rnd5
Jalen Stroman
Jalen Stroman is a better player than the 163rd overall pick suggests; smart patience, rewarded. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick239
Rnd7
Miles Kitselman
Miles Kitselman at No. 239 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick241
Rnd7
Trey Zuhn III
By-the-book stuff, Trey Zuhn III at pick No. 241 squarely in line with his ranking. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
