Draft Grade — Saints
Overall A-
ValueB- NeedB+ TradesA+ FutureA+
Nobody dealt better than the Saints this weekend: A-.

The trade table was a mismatch, and the Saints were on the right end of it, hauling in a fortune in surplus value. A near-flawless weekend of work, and a A- to cap it.

The Benny pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over. Adding Amari Cooper by trade rounds out the weekend beyond the rookies.

Bottom line, with Keldric Faulk leading the way, this is a class that should pay off fast and rarely be regretted.

Pick Analysis
Pick6 Rnd1 Keldric Faulk
Keldric Faulk at the 6th pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick35 Rnd2 Kenyon Sadiq
A quiet steal in No. 35: Kenyon Sadiq for less than the market said. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick37 Rnd2 Anthony Hill Jr.
Anthony Hill Jr. in slot 37 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick66 Rnd3 A'Mauri Washington
A market-rate interior defensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on A'Mauri Washington. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick113 Rnd4 Chris Johnson
Chris Johnson in the 113th overall pick is fair value, right on his grade. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick131 Rnd4 Tao Johnson
Tao Johnson at the Round 4 slot nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick137 Rnd4 Chase Roberts
Chase Roberts in Round 4, Pick 37 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick142 Rnd5 Ar'maj Reed-Adams
Ar'maj Reed-Adams at pick 142 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick166 Rnd5 Nico Iamaleava
Nico Iamaleava is a better player than the 166th overall pick suggests; smart patience, rewarded. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick171 Rnd5 Rayshaun Benny
Rayshaun Benny at the Round 5 slot is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick181 Rnd6 Mark Fletcher Jr.
Mark Fletcher Jr. at No. 181 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick248 Rnd7 Cayden Lee
Cayden Lee in pick 248 lands just on the right side of the ledger. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
