Draft Grade — Browns
Overall B
ValueB NeedB+ TradesB- FutureB-
The Browns answered their biggest question with Mendoza. Grade: B.

Start where it matters. The Browns took Fernando Mendoza to run the offense for the next decade, and every other decision this weekend bends around that one. More right than wrong, and a B to match.

Reaching for Collins left real value on the table behind him. They will regret leaving interior defensive lineman for another day if the season turns on it. Landing Rivers that late papers over a lot of smaller sins.

They left with quarterback solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.

In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.

Pick Analysis
Pick6 Rnd1 Fernando Mendoza
In the 6th overall pick they get their guy under center for the next decade at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick27 Rnd1 Gennings Dunker
A reasonable price with a little left over, Gennings Dunker in Round 1, Pick 27. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick39 Rnd2 Germie Bernard
Germie Bernard at No. 39 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick70 Rnd3 Connor Lew
The board had Connor Lew higher than pick No. 70, and the offensive lineman fell to them anyway. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick107 Rnd4 Chandler Rivers
A slide stopped in pick 107, with Chandler Rivers worth more than the price. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick140 Rnd5 Chase Bisontis
They let Chase Bisontis come to them and pounced at the Round 5 slot. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick145 Rnd5 Demond Claiborne
A market-rate running back, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Demond Claiborne. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick148 Rnd5 Bray Hubbard
Bray Hubbard in slot 148 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick210 Rnd6 Taylen Green
Taylen Green in No. 210 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick248 Rnd7 Kelby Collins
This one needs a full-page explanation: Kelby Collins in Round 7, Pick 32, miles early. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
