FutureA+
The Rams won the night they stopped Iamaleava from sliding. Grade: B-. Every so often the board makes a mistake, and the Rams were there to profit. Nico Iamaleava, the No. 163 name on the board, should have been long gone before slot 201. Call it a sensible B-, earned the boring way.
The Alexander pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over. Spending an early pick on cornerback with edge rusher open is the decision the grade keeps circling back to. That edge rusher hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.
The roster is better shaped than it was, with wide receiver chief among the fixes.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but edge rusher.
Pick Analysis
Pick30
Rnd1
Kenyon Sadiq
In the 30th pick they get a matchup weapon at tight end, and a steal at that. A real need, handled.
Pick31
Rnd1
Colton Hood
In pick No. 31 they get a ballhawk on the outside. More want than need.
Pick63
Rnd2
Ian Strong
Ian Strong at Round 2, Pick 31 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick75
Rnd3
Daylen Everette
Of all the spots to shop, they chose cornerback. Daylen Everette in the 75th overall pick leaves edge rusher for later.
Pick95
Rnd3
Omar Cooper Jr.
A tidy little value on Omar Cooper Jr. in No. 95, a step better than break-even. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick97
Rnd3
Harold Perkins Jr.
Harold Perkins Jr. in the Round 3 slot is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick171
Rnd5
Max Iheanachor
Nothing to complain about; Max Iheanachor went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick201
Rnd6
Nico Iamaleava
Steal is underselling it; Nico Iamaleava at slot 201 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick211
Rnd6
Isaiah Nwokobia
They paid sticker price for Isaiah Nwokobia in pick No. 211, and that is fine. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick228
Rnd7
Bear Alexander
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Bear Alexander well ahead of where he belonged. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick248
Rnd7
Jamal Haynes
No edge and no loss on Jamal Haynes in pick 248; it is a wash and a sensible one. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
