Good, not great, for the Falcons: B. Nobody else had Daevin Hobbs anywhere near the 196th pick. The Falcons did, by 26 spots, and that gap is the whole story.
They will regret leaving offensive lineman for another day if the season turns on it. Stockton falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch.
The Tre'Davious White pickup adds a known quantity to a class of unknowns. They left with quarterback solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.
Good work on the whole, with offensive lineman the one box left unchecked.
Pick Analysis
Pick48
Rnd2
CJ Allen
CJ Allen is a better player than pick 48 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick114
Rnd4
D'Angelo Ponds
D'Angelo Ponds at the 114th pick is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the cornerback. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick196
Rnd6
Daevin Hobbs
Value said wait; Daevin Hobbs in No. 196 says they were not listening. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick231
Rnd7
Gunner Stockton
Steal is underselling it; Gunner Stockton at pick No. 231 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
