There is conviction, and then there is this. The Bengals took Malachi Fields a full 34 picks ahead of where the board had him, an overdraft steep enough that it colors the whole weekend. Some smart calls, some head-scratchers, and a C+ in the wash.

Abney II at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster. The Curry pick is fine in a vacuum, less so with offensive lineman, linebacker and other spots still on the board.

That offensive lineman hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.

Hit on T.J. Parker and the swing picks, and this ages a lot better than it grades today.
