Overall B-
ValueB NeedB TradesB- FutureB-
A solid, sensible weekend for the Steelers: B-.

It is the swing that defines the weekend: Dominic Zvada in pick No. 237, a good 84 spots before the room expected him. A dependable weekend that grades out a B-.

With quarterback, safety and other spots unsolved, spending premium capital on offensive lineman is the choice that costs them. Hutchins falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch.

For all the activity, quarterback went untouched, which is hard to explain. Interior defensive lineman was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but quarterback.

Pick Analysis
Pick21 Rnd1 Kayden McDonald
In the 21st overall pick they get a wrecking ball inside. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick53 Rnd2 Jacob Rodriguez
Jacob Rodriguez in slot 53 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick76 Rnd3 LT Overton
Value with a capital V on LT Overton in pick 76, a genuine coup. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick85 Rnd3 Dontay Corleone
A tidy bit of business in the 85th pick, where Dontay Corleone graded well above the range. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick99 Rnd3 Deion Burks
A clean, defensible pick in the Round 3 slot with a little surplus value in Deion Burks. The roster fit checks out.
Pick121 Rnd4 Austin Barber
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Austin Barber in No. 121. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick135 Rnd4 Jude Bowry
A want over a need in Round 4, Pick 35: Jude Bowry adds an offensive lineman while quarterback, safety and other spots keeps waiting.
Pick161 Rnd5 Chris McClellan
Chris McClellan in No. 161 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick216 Rnd6 Red Murdock
Somehow Red Murdock was still sitting there in the 216th overall pick, and they pounced on premier linebacker value. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick224 Rnd7 Wesley Williams
The board fumbled Wesley Williams all the way to the Round 7 slot, and they scooped it up. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick230 Rnd7 Quintayvious Hutchins
A edge rusher of that caliber at slot 230 is the definition of value, full stop. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick237 Rnd7 Dominic Zvada
They reached a country mile for Dominic Zvada at pick 237, and the board is aghast. A want more than a need, though you can never have too many.
