Draft Grade — Ravens
Overall B-
ValueC NeedB+ TradesB- FutureB-
Good, not great, for the Ravens: B-.

Call it belief, call it a gut call, but Kaelon Black at the Round 5 slot is 43 spots clear of consensus, and that is the headline. A dependable weekend that grades out a B-.

Hecht falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch. Job largely done: cornerback settled and 8 of 8 of the wish list covered. Building through the lines is a philosophy, and they stuck to it.

A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.

Pick Analysis
Pick14 Rnd1 Olaivavega Ioane
In slot 14 they get a building block for the line, reach and all. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick45 Rnd2 Dani Dennis-Sutton
Dani Dennis-Sutton in Round 2, Pick 13 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. It fills a real need, too.
Pick80 Rnd3 Malachi Fields
Good price on Malachi Fields in the 80th overall pick, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick115 Rnd4 Sam Hecht
Sam Hecht in the 115th pick is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick154 Rnd5 Rayshaun Benny
Rayshaun Benny at pick No. 154 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick162 Rnd5 Domani Jackson
A reach on Domani Jackson in No. 162; the board had better options right there. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick173 Rnd5 Dae'Quan Wright
They jumped the gun on Dae'Quan Wright, taking him earlier than his grade liked. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick174 Rnd5 Kaelon Black
They left a pile of value on the table to take Kaelon Black this early at pick 174. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick211 Rnd6 Diego Pavia
Value said wait; Diego Pavia in the 211th pick says they were not listening. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick250 Rnd7 Josh Cuevas
A clean, defensible pick in the 250th overall pick with a little surplus value in Josh Cuevas. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick253 Rnd7 Fa'alili Fa'amoe
Nothing to complain about; Fa'alili Fa'amoe went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
