Draft Grade — Browns
Overall B
ValueB NeedB+ TradesB- FutureB-
Moore is the Browns' new face under center. Grade: B.

The Browns spent the pick that matters most on Dante Moore, and a roster that has been waiting on a passer can start to take shape. They moved the roster forward and banked a B for it.

They are betting Baynes proves the room right and everyone else wrong. Leaving edge rusher unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. The Johnson pick is the one they will point to when this weekend is judged.

They left with quarterback solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.

A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.

Pick Analysis
Pick6 Rnd1 Dante Moore
In pick No. 6 they get a franchise quarterback. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick24 Rnd1 Gennings Dunker
In the Round 1 slot they get a long-term starter on the line at fair value. A real need, handled.
Pick39 Rnd2 Colton Hood
Colton Hood is a better player than pick 39 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick70 Rnd3 Omar Cooper Jr.
A premium they did not need to pay, Omar Cooper Jr. a notch or two before his time. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick107 Rnd4 Emmett Johnson
Emmett Johnson slipping to the 107th overall pick is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick140 Rnd5 Jakobe Thomas
They read the board right and Jakobe Thomas was the payoff at No. 140. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick145 Rnd5 Kobe Baynes
They talked themselves into Kobe Baynes at slot 145, and the board did not agree. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick148 Rnd5 Eric Rivers
Eric Rivers slid further than he should have, and the 148th pick is lovely value for the wide receiver. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick205 Rnd6 Jalon Daniels
They did well to land Jalon Daniels in Round 6, Pick 25, just ahead of his grade. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick248 Rnd7 Jacobe Johnson
A market-rate cornerback, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Jacobe Johnson. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
