Draft Grade — Steelers
Overall B
ValueA- NeedB TradesB- FutureB-
Best value of the weekend goes to the Steelers for Allen: B.

When a board-topper like CJ Allen slides to slot 99, you do not overthink it, and the Steelers did not. It does the job without flash, and the B reflects it.

The cost of the Norfleet reach is exactly the players who went right after him. That edge rusher hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.

Quarterback was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.

A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.

Pick Analysis
Pick21 Rnd1 Mansoor Delane
In pick No. 21 they get a sticky cover corner at a price that makes it sweeter. A real need, handled.
Pick53 Rnd2 Denzel Boston
A wide receiver of that caliber at the Round 2 slot is the definition of value, full stop. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick76 Rnd3 Christen Miller
They barely believed it either: Christen Miller still on the board at pick 76. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick85 Rnd3 Dillon Thieneman
You do not let a safety like Dillon Thieneman reach slot 85 and blink. They did not. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick99 Rnd3 CJ Allen
Somehow CJ Allen was still sitting there in the 99th overall pick, and they pounced on premier linebacker value. It fills a real need, too.
Pick121 Rnd4 Mike Washington Jr.
A slide stopped in the 121st pick, with Mike Washington Jr. worth more than the price. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick135 Rnd4 Carson Beck
Carson Beck in Round 4, Pick 35 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick159 Rnd5 Isaiah World
Steal is underselling it; Isaiah World at No. 159 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick213 Rnd6 Ephesians Prysock
Ephesians Prysock at pick No. 213 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick214 Rnd6 Kobe Baynes
Kobe Baynes in Round 6, Pick 35 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. A want more than a need, though you can never have too many.
Pick224 Rnd7 VJ Payne
VJ Payne in pick 224 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick237 Rnd7 Brett Norfleet
A big swing on Brett Norfleet at the 237th overall pick, well ahead of any board in the building. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
