Draft Grade — Rams
Overall C+
ValueC- NeedB- TradesB- FutureB-
A passer of the future in Beck, and a C+, for the Rams.

The one hole that towered over the rest is filled. The Rams spent their marquee pick on Carson Beck, and for the first time in a while there is a real answer at quarterback.

They will need Beck to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. Leaving running back unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.

They banked enough surplus on Harvey to cover a lot of smaller sins. Job largely done: wide receiver settled and 5 of 8 of the wish list covered.

It nets out as a middle-of-the-pack haul that neither helps nor hurts much.

Pick Analysis
Pick13 Rnd1 Jermod McCoy
In slot 13 they get an island corner at fair value.
Pick29 Rnd1 Carson Beck
In the 29th pick they get a passer to set the clock by, though the board says they badly overpaid. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick61 Rnd2 Xavier Chaplin
Xavier Chaplin at the 61st overall pick is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick93 Rnd3 Jack Endries
They liked Jack Endries enough to skip the value, taking him in pick 93. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick167 Rnd5 Isaac Smith
Isaac Smith at Round 5, Pick 29 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick207 Rnd6 Evan Stewart
Evan Stewart in the Round 6 slot is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick210 Rnd6 Isaiah Jatta
A straight-up fair deal on Isaiah Jatta at pick No. 210, value and slot in agreement. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick232 Rnd7 DJ Harvey
DJ Harvey in No. 232 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. They added to a strength when a need was still open elsewhere.
Pick250 Rnd7 J. Michael Sturdivant
A reach for J. Michael Sturdivant in Round 7, Pick 34; a little patience would have been rewarded. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick255 Rnd7 Dominic Zvada
Dominic Zvada in the 255th overall pick is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. It is more luxury than necessity; they were already set here.
