Draft Grade — Chiefs

FutureB-
More right than wrong for the Chiefs, and a B- to prove it. There was a run on nobody at that position, and the Chiefs started one anyway for Riley Nowakowski, 96 picks ahead of schedule. No fireworks, but a solid B-.
For all the activity, offensive lineman went untouched, which is hard to explain. Wide receiver is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
They came away with juice, if not much beef up front.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the offensive lineman spot they never got to.
Pick Analysis
Pick9
Rnd1
Carnell Tate
In No. 9 they get a No. 1 receiver. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick40
Rnd2
Joshua Josephs
Joshua Josephs in the 40th overall pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick74
Rnd3
Domonique Orange
They took Domonique Orange at par in Round 3, Pick 10, which is nothing to complain about. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick109
Rnd4
Bud Clark
They went early on Bud Clark in the Round 4 slot, and the value did not follow. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick146
Rnd5
Domani Jackson
A market-rate cornerback, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Domani Jackson. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick176
Rnd5
Riley Nowakowski
A real head-scratcher, Riley Nowakowski in slot 176 is miles ahead of his ranking. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
