Draft Grade — Jaguars
Overall B
ValueB+ NeedB TradesB+ FutureB
The Jaguars let Mesidor fall into their laps, and walked away with a B.

There is a lot to like until you notice wide receiver is still a hole. The Jaguars never got to the one that mattered most. It does the job without flash, and the B reflects it.

Getting Mesidor where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class. Small wins on the phones, but wins all the same.

They left with offensive lineman solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off. Nearly every premium pick went to that side of the ball.

Good work on the whole, with wide receiver the one box left unchecked.

Pick Analysis
Pick56 Rnd2 Akheem Mesidor
You do not let an edge rusher like Akheem Mesidor reach slot 56 and blink. They did not. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick81 Rnd3 Daylen Everette
Daylen Everette at the Round 3 slot is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick95 Rnd3 Deontae Lawson
A linebacker of that caliber at No. 95 is the definition of value, full stop. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick100 Rnd3 Zakee Wheatley
Zakee Wheatley slipping to Round 3, Pick 36 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick124 Rnd4 Kaytron Allen
They read the board right and Kaytron Allen was the payoff at pick No. 124. The roster fit checks out.
Pick162 Rnd5 DeMonte Capehart
DeMonte Capehart at the 162nd overall pick is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick164 Rnd5 Beau Stephens
A top-tier offensive lineman at a bargain, Beau Stephens in the 164th overall pick, plain and simple. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick233 Rnd7 Thaddeus Dixon
Thaddeus Dixon at pick No. 233 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick245 Rnd7 Connor Tollison
Connor Tollison in Round 7, Pick 29 is fair value, right on his grade. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
